Group Norms

One of our mottos is “respect and protect” all living things. Please leave things in nature as you found them (if you turn over a log or rock, gently place it back as it was). We also employ a "pack it in, pack it out" philosophy.

Please leave your four-legged family members at home. While we love dogs, not everyone does, and not all dogs love each other.

Always bring sun protection, water and a snack. Some outings will request you bring a picnic meal if desired, so be sure to check details for all events. A layer of extra clothing is often a good idea as well.

Most kids enjoy carrying their own “explorer’s backpack” with adventuring tools such as a magnifying glass, bug box, plastic baggies, binoculars, a nature journal or paper, etc. as well as their own snack and water.

While we will be mostly keeping to designated trails, children will be encouraged to explore their surroundings… this may mean that when it’s okay, kids may collect “nature treasures” such as rocks, sticks and leaves (nothing living please).

Try to strike a balance between sharing nature experiences with your children and letting them guide you along the way. We encourage you to foster your child’s sense of wonder and awe…

You are not required to stay for the duration of any adventure and may leave as necessary. You can often catch up with us if you arrive late too.

Guardians must stay with their children at all times, and are solely responsible for their well-being.
