Club Overview

Welcome to Family Adventures in Nature, San Diego!

We are happiest when exploring the outdoors, and love to do so with other families. Founded in November 2009, we currently have some 400+ members in our group. No worries, not everyone comes on every adventure! It seems that every group we get is just right for the location and we have yet to have a negative experience!

Our club provides some 15 - 20 monthly outings, so you're sure to find something to fit your busy calendar. In addition to the "umbrella" club that mostly hosts weekend adventures, we also have several "nearby nature" clubs:

• PB Peregrines meets on Mondays (twice a month) in the areas of Pacific Beach, Clairemont, La Jolla, and is headed up by Sylvia Busby
• Nature's Playground meets on Tuesday mornings (twice a month), usually in Scripps Ranch, or nearby areas, and is headed up by Kylie Hall (out on maternity leave right now)
• O'side Trail Tribe meets on Tuesdays in Oceanside and surrounding communities and is headed up by Amanda Byzak
• Wilderness Wednesdays meets - you guessed it - on Wednesdays in Scripps Ranch, Poway, Rancho Peñasquitos and is headed up by Shawna Hamon
• Encinitas Explorers meets on Fridays in Encinitas and surrounding communities and is headed up by Meredith Garner

In order to keep nature on people's radars, and their calendars, I send out a weekly email, that may become a post here too. In the email I give an overview of what's scheduled for the week in addition to any upcoming events they want to get on their calendars. FAN usually schedules a month or two in advance, and the "nearby nature" groups add the details of when and where they're meeting a couple of weeks in advance (or more, but the day stays the same). We're always looking for new people to work with and would love to eventually have "nearby nature" clubs in all areas of the county, so that nearby nature would in fact be more easily accessible for nearby people!
